Community Channel is now 24 hours on freeview

Here is the details from their web site:

Community Channel has gone live on Freeview for 24-hours a day.

The move means that Freeview viewers will now be able to watch the full range of programming that has until now only been available on Sky 539 and Virgin TV 233, and on Freeview from 6am to 9am.

The promotional period to give even more viewers the chance to watch Community Channel’s full line-up of programming will run until 30th June 2010. Following this period Freeview viewers will then be able to access the Channel’s output, for 3 hours a day, across an increasing audience, as and when digital switchover occurs, with the Channel continuing to be available 24/7 on both the Sky and Virgin platforms, as well as through its on-demand service via

The groundbreaking deal is a result of a partnership between BBC, Arqiva, the broadcast transmission company and Media Trust, and secures the channels continuing presence on the Freeview platform.

Mark Dodd, Digital Media Director at Media Trust, said: “This is a hugely supportive partnership and offer from Arqiva and I am delighted that the channel will now be able to continue its support of charitable and community focused campaigns for the foreseeable future, whilst delivering entertaining, inspiring and thought provoking programming to our steadily increasing audience of viewers, who have supported us over the past 10 years since our launch.”
